Our response to Scottish Government consultation on continuation and uprating of Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP)

The Scottish Government are currently holding a consultation on the continuation of and uprating Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) to 65p per unit of alcohol.

We support the proposals within the consultation for MUP to continue and for it to be uprated to 65p per unit of alcohol.

In our response, we outline our support for the proposals and detail that alcohol is a significant source of excess calories for adults in Scotland. Alcohol accounts for around 9% of calories in adult diets in Scotland, and also contains considerable amounts of sugar.

The consultation closes on 22nd November 2023.
