Each session covered a different theme relating to the food environment in Scotland; these were Food Deals and Special Offers (Promotions), The Out of Home Sector, and Industry Influence. Within each session, participants were presented with relevant evidence on the theme to allow for informed discussions to take place.
There was encouraging evidence that many participants recognised the problems covered and their importance in determining diet and health outcomes. The results also reflected the conflicting views that surround public health issues and population-level interventions. Discussions that demonstrated lower levels of agreement and contradiction of evidence also provide the public health community with information on where work is still needed to increase public awareness and support.
