Dr John has a distinguished past career addressing health and development concerns internationally, and recently completed doctoral studies at the University of Edinburgh on the implications of tobacco and food commerce and industry for health.
Obesity Action Scotland was established in 2015 to provide clinical leadership and independent advocacy on preventing and reducing overweight and obesity in Scotland. It is funded by a grant from the Scottish Government and hosted by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow on behalf of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties.
Andrew Fraser, Chair of the Steering Group of Obesity Action Scotland, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dr John to this important role to support the next chapter of our work. She will bring her extensive experience - and insight from her past work - to the challenges faced in Scotland in preventing and reducing obesity.”
